Outdoor Weddings, Whatever The Weather, With Hog Roast Elgin

Being unable to properly pin down the weather often means that outdoor weddings are risky business here in Scotland. Will it rain? Will it snow? Or will the sun split the skies? Who knows! And even now, while the rest of the UK basks in boiling hot temperatures with gorgeous sunshine to match, most areas of Scotland have been flip-flopping between warm, muggy days with near constant rain showers and cloudless bright blue skies, scorching heat and the sunshine we don’t see nearly enough of. But you can bet that the unpredictability hasn’t put Scots brides and grooms off hosting their dream outdoor weddings!

Hog Roast Elgin has found that many couples are happy to take a gamble in terms of the climate in the hopes that they will be able to enjoy beautiful weather on their big day. Especially as we can include spacious marquees in our bookings, which means that even if the weather does take a sudden turn for the worst, our team can act quickly to ensure that everyone stays warm and dry.

With that in mind, last Saturday afternoon, the Hog Roast Elgin catering crew handled Ruth and Murray’s outdoor wedding, which took place in an idyllic secret garden; nestled amidst acres of untouched forest, featuring hidden walkways and castle ruins. The location couldn’t have been more mesmerising.

Hog Roast Elgin The couple had spent the last 18 months planning their romantic celebration, and Hog Roast Elgin was delighted to help make the day even more memorable with our Alfresco Wedding Menu, which includes antipasti platters brimming with cheeses, cold cut deli meats, olives, sun dried tomatoes and artisan breads, followed by a traditional hog roast with all the fixin’s, grilled vegetable kebabs for the non-meat eaters, side salads, coleslaw and chips with two mouth-watering desserts to finish.

Steve, our catering manager, did the honours of presenting this stunning buffet at midday, just in time for the wedding party to arrive at the reception spot. Unfortunately, as the guests drizzled in, so did the rain, but our team were quick on their feet and had the marquee erected in no time.

Fortunately, the cloudburst was over almost as quickly as it started, and was replaced by a glorious wave of heat and sunshine, which Ruth and Murray were incredibly grateful for, as it allowed them to capture some incredible photos and enjoy the dramatic scenery that surrounded them.
