There are few better excuses to get the family together this November than St Andrew’s Day!
For over 700 years, Scotland has commemorated the life of our patron saint, Andrew the Apostle, by meeting up with loved ones and enjoying an atmospheric evening of ceilidh dancing, whiskey drinking, folk songs and great grub! These hootenannies often carry on into the wee hours of the morning and are a fantastic opportunity for families to bond with one another.
This year, St Andrew’s Day falls on a Wednesday, so we’re expecting celebrations to begin the weekend before and carry on through to the following weekend, which means a busy week lies ahead for the Hog Roast Auchterarder gang – not that you’ll catch us complaining!
Our catering crew are desperate to get stuck into the festivities and we are delighted that we have already received a number of calls from customers and clients looking for our help in making St Andrew’s Day special. Lucky for you, we still have some slots available, so if you want to join in the fun, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
One client we’ll be catering for is Gregory. He has been tasked with planning a St Andrew’s Day dinner for his whole family and has asked for our help in pulling off an unforgettable spread for 25 people.
Hog Roast Auchterarder’s catering manager, Steve, has been a huge help to Gregory and has so far assisted him with creating an entirely unique menu plan, which features some cultural favourites.
The bespoke feast will kickstart with a handful of canapé options, including beer-battered fish and chips with tartare sauce, mini quiche and chicken liver parfait followed by smoked Scottish salmon dressed in dill and mustard with Atlantic prawns, avocado, brown bread and butter.
For the main course, Gregory and his guests have Hog Roast Auchterarder’s whole-roasted free-range lamb dish to look forward to, served with a side of salad, coleslaw and roast potatoes. Our sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake will be served after the meal, along with a dram of whiskey (supplied by Gregory), which we’re positive will bring the evening to a delightful conclusion.
