When the Venue Changes, But the Food Doesn’t Have To!

Weddings come with enough stress built in already without last-minute changes being thrown into the mix. But sometimes things happen, and change ends up being the only option left on the table. That’s why having a team you can actually trust to roll with the punches matters so much – because your big day shouldn’t fall apart just because plans did.

Kirstin and Jonny learned that lesson the hard way, when their dream wedding at Castle Roy had to be moved at the eleventh hour, due to the devastating wildfires that tore through the Cairngorms. With huge stretches of the landscape left unrecognisable and firefighters warning the blazes could take months to fully extinguish, relocating the wedding wasn’t really a choice – it was simply what had to happen. Thankfully, the couple managed to find a stunning alternative in Tom’s Lodge, a luxury Scandi-inspired retreat with sweeping views looking straight out over the Cairngorm mountains.

Finding a gorgeous new venue was one win, but what really put the couple’s minds at ease was how Hog Roast Cairngorms handled the sudden change. We always try to stay flexible for our clients, and we made sure Kirstin and Jonny knew straight away that switching venues wasn’t a problem on our end – if anything, it just made us more determined to give them the day they deserved.

With the venue settled and the food firmly in our hands, the pair were finally free to enjoy their wedding without a shadow of worry hanging over it. The Hog Roast Cairngorms team spent hours perfecting the spread, centred around a beautifully cooked free-range hog, served alongside stuffing, crackling, and applesauce, plus a good selection of rolls, wraps, tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, coleslaw, and a mix of sweet potato and classic fries, with salt, vinegar, and sauces on hand for anyone who wanted them. We didn’t forget the non-meat-eaters either, preparing 15 portions of vegan pulled jackfruit, finished with plant-based slaw and stacked into buns for a proper vegan burger.

Hog Roast Cairngorms pulled the whole thing off with real precision, making sure nothing was out of place and nobody left hungry – proof that a change of scenery doesn’t have to mean a change in quality.

At the end of the day, weddings don’t always go exactly to plan, but whatever curveball gets thrown our way, our customers always come first, and we’ll do whatever it takes to make sure your big day still feels exactly as special as you imagined it. That’s the Hog Roast Cairngorms promise – and it’s one we’re proud to keep, no matter what.
