Whoever said rain on your wedding day is a sign of good fortune clearly hadn’t planned their big day in Scotland!
Hog Roast East Lothian’s most recent clients, Rebecca and Chris went all in planning their dream summer wedding, only to find themselves braving one of the wettest days of the year. If there’s a silver lining to a torrential downpour, it’s that it makes for one heck of a story!
Originally, the couple had their hearts set on a July celebration with sunny skies and perfect outdoor vibes. Instead, they got a Scottish monsoon! But this dynamic duo didn’t let a little (okay, a LOT) of rain spoil their day. Oh no, they went full throttle with their wellies and umbrellas, turning the wettest wedding of the summer into an absolute blast.
Their ceremony took place in a gorgeous countryside field, and though the rain hammered down, the views were beyond spectacular. The Highland cows in the neighbouring field looked on with what could only be described as a bemused but approving gaze!
To keep everyone dry and cosy, a spacious marquee was set up and transformed into a snug, rustic wonderland with wooden tables, furry throws, and decorative antlers, creating a warm, woodsy vibe that was nothing short of magical.
Following the heartfelt speeches, the newlyweds led the charge to the delicious spread prepared by our Hog Roast East Lothian team. Chef Steven impressed with an epic banquet comprising a traditional hog roast with the crispiest crackling you can imagine, stuffing, and tangy applesauce.
For poultry lovers, whole-roasted chickens with chipolata sausages on fresh brown bread were a hit while vegans and vegetarians were treated to hearty BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls. And the sides were just as delicious! New potatoes tossed in herb butter, classic Caesar salad, and a Thai salad bursting with bean sprouts and peppers. Rebecca, Chris, and their 170 guests devoured every morsel, leaving nothing but empty platters behind!
Hog Roast East Lothian wasn’t quite finished yet, however. After the couple made the ceremonial first slice of their stunning three-tier wedding cake, we whisked it away to our gazebo. There, we expertly sliced and dressed each piece with fresh berries and cream, making sure every guest got a taste of the moist vanilla sponge.
Despite the rain, Rebecca and Chris’s wedding was a triumph. The kids splashed in puddles with glee, the food was a hit, and the love and laughter were in full force!
