Here at Spitting Pig Scotland, we have many fingers in many pies (which is quite apt, considering the business we’re in!) including catering for so many different kinds of private parties and corporate events all over the country, designing and building our own range of hog roast machines, and covering rentals and sales of them as well as using them ourselves. What you may not know is that we also operate a nationwide catering franchise, and Steven is the franchise owner of Spitting Pig Scotland. Covering the whole of Scotland with scrumptious hog and spit roasts (and so much more) is no easy feat but Steven and his team do just that on a daily basis.
Steven recently catered a 40th wedding anniversary celebration at one of Morton of Pitmilly’s luxury holiday cottages in Kingsbarns, near St Andrews. Mr. Parsons booked it and requested a whole roasted hog with crackling (the latter we produce by smothering the meat in plenty of salt before cooking), and of course to be accompanied by our homemade apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing, as well as fresh bread rolls so that everything could be crammed inside to make lovely pigs in buns. Steven breeds his own high-quality pigs on his farm near Dundee and they sure make stunning culinary centrepieces at any party or event in Scotland.
Hog Roast Kingsbarns specialises in tasty hog roasts but, like all of Spitting Pig, they can also provide a great variety of alternative dishes. If you fancy a spit-roasted hunk of lamb or beef, or some spit-roasted turkey or chicken, they can easily do that. If you’re having a posh do and want several sit-down courses, they can do that too, with waiter service included. Plus when it comes to any of your guests having dietary requirements, with advance notice they can provide delicious alternatives. For this party, Steven provided a lovely vegetarian option of roasted vegetable skewers with halloumi, pitta bread, and a tzatziki dip. No wonder the online feedback was tagged #tastesensation and Steven was thanked for an amazing hog roast at a perfect party.
