This past week Scotland and the world celebrated one of the greatest poets of all time, Robert “Rabbie” Burns. It’s tradition on Burns night to gather with friends and family and enjoy a burns supper, which usually consists haggis and the recitation of the “Address to a Haggis, some Scotch Whisky, and for all around the table to recite their favourite of Burns’ poems. Here at Hog Roast Dunblane we’ve got a slight twist on one of the very best of Burns’ poem for you to try at the table, let us know if you notice any changes:
Tae a Pig
Wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim’rous beastie,
O, what a panic’s in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty,
Cause as a hog roast you are so tasty!
Okay, yes, it might not have quite the same style and flair as Rabbie’s original, but when you recite this just before your Hog Roast Dunblane Burns supper we guarantee everyone will love it. You can even take all the credit for yourself – don’t worry, we won’t tell…
Hog Roast Dunblane teams both in Scotland and through the wider United Kingdom have been excited to partake in your Burns celebrations both this past week, and those still to come. For these events we’ve been able to pair our typical hog roast dining experience with the traditional Burns Supper for one of the most excellent dinners around. For a celebration that is so much about great food and drinks Hog Roast Dunblane most certainly finds ourselves in our element.
Who knew that haggis and pork roasts could make such a great pairing! Pork roasts are also an excellent pairing for whisky too. The smokiness of the drink and the smoky flavour of our delicate pork is an easy match made in heaven! Plus with our bevy of roasted veggies, roasted potatoes, other meat roasts, fresh salads and slaws it is most certainly a braw supper for your Burns Night enjoyment! Even the poet genius himself would probably have some wonderful words to write about this dining experience.
