Hog Roast Burntisland – A Snowy Wedding In March!

Last year, when Alice and Paul started making plans for their wedding, they had no idea what the weather had in store for them. Whilst, like most brides and grooms, they were quietly wishing for sunshine and mild weather, it turned out that mother nature had other plans in mind for this couple’s big day!

The day before the wedding, opaque flurries swept through the country, which formed a thick blanket of snow over most of Scotland. This unexpected weather change initially filled Alice and Paul with worry that their big day was going to be spoiled, but after speaking with Hog Roast Burntisland’s catering manager, Steve, they felt at ease.

While snow might spell disaster for most events, there’s something deeply romantic about snow at a wedding. The air of magic it provides is something that can’t be matched, but that’s not to say it doesn’t make things tricky logistically – especially when said wedding is supposed to take place outdoors!

We’re nothing if not prepared, though, and ensuring that Alice and Paul’s dream of having an outdoor wedding was mostly unaffected by the extreme weather, Hog Roast Burntisland added one of our spacious marquees to the booking. This provided the guests with some much-needed shelter from the elements while still offering panoramic views of the woodland venue.

Since cold weather impacts cooking times dramatically, Hog Roast Burntisland also made sure to arrive at the venue extra early, which meant the wedding itinerary wasn’t disrupted in the slightest.

Hog Roast Burntisland After the couple exchanged vows and the speeches had been said, our team served a traditional hog roast banquet, which consisted of crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce and irresistible pulled pork stuffed onto gluten-free rolls and served alongside fresh salads, piping hot sweet potato fries and crunchy coleslaw.

Hog Roast Burntisland’s hearty feast was just what the doctor ordered after a morning of standing outside in the bitter cold, and everyone found themselves warming up very quickly.

As for the bride and groom, well, they couldn’t have asked for a better day, and their wedding will certainly be remembered by all those who shared in the experience – including us!
