On Saturday afternoon, Hog Roast Aberdeen delighted dozens of wedding guests with our irresistibly tasty Alfresco Menu! Now, I know that you’re probably thinking, outdoor dining in autumn. Really? Yes, really – and it’s not as uncommon as you might think!
When our catering manager, Steve, first spoke to the bride and groom, Michelle and Alec, about their vision for their big day, the pair gushed about how they had always dreamed of getting married in an open-air ceremony at this time of the year. Their families, on the other hand, were a little dubious to say the least!
It’s no secret that the UK, and Scotland in particular, gets a lot of bad weather throughout the autumn and winter months. So the guests were (understandably) worried about spending their day drenched and cold. Michelle and Alec relayed these concerns to our team, who promised to keep everyone warm, cosy and dry.
Knowing that the couple didn’t want to take their celebrations indoors at all, if they could help it, Hog Roast Aberdeen recommended including one of our marquees in the booking. These stylish tents have plenty of room for guests to party under while keeping them safe from the elements without compromising on the joys of open-air dining. Michelle and Alec were thrilled with this solution, which they agreed was a win-win for everyone!
On the day of the wedding, Hog Roast Aberdeen travelled to the remote venue, where they immediately split into two teams. One group set up the marquee and dining furniture, which they decorated with crisp tablecloths and floral centrepieces, while Steve and the other team worked on preparing the hog roast, Italian antipasti platters of cold-cut meats, cheeses and breads, side dishes, a vegan option and desserts.
Hog Roast Aberdeen’s impeccable timing meant that the food was ready to be served just as the guests arrived, and the mouth-watering smells alone were enough to tell them that they were in for an incredible feast! But even with that, the flavours surpassed all expectations. The fresh, tasty and piping hot hog roast was perfect for warming everyone from within and the accompaniments satisfied every craving.
Much to everyone’s surprise, there wasn’t a drop of rain in sight. Although the temperatures were in the single digits, the skies were a clear blue all afternoon, which was perfect for taking photos and enjoying the rural views. A splendid day all round!
