January 25th is Burns night in Scotland in which many of us will traditionally celebrate the late great poet Robert Burns’ birthday. The celebration is heralded all across the world to mark the poet’s work and influence, but it is no more important anywhere else than in Scotland where Burns heralded from. At Hog Roast Fife, we are here to help celebrate the right way.
As part of the tradition, Burns Night sees folk come together to share night of drinking, dining, and poems together. As it is a Scottish tradition, the typical dinner you might see on a Burns Night includes haggis, neeps, and tatties, and is often washed down with a good dram of whisky. There will also be the recitation of some of Burns’ best work, including most importantly the Address to a Haggis which is a big part of why the haggis is chosen as the main dish for the night. In bigger Burns celebrations there may even be a ceilidh too.
This Burns Night Hog Roast Fife have a couple of ways to help you celebrate. As a caterer that specialises in roast dining we can slot quite easily into the traditional Burns dinner. We can pair your haggis dinner with our own hog roast special, or go begin with other Scottish foods like our delicious smoked salmon starter. We’ll leave the poetry and the whisky to you, though one or two of our chefs may be tempted into giving their best Address if asked nicely…. If you are hosting a bigger Burns night with lots of guests then we can go bigger with a buffet, or serve a delicious three-course dinner for everyone. We may even be able to save up some of the leftover haggis for some delicious later evening haggis rolls to refresh guests after the ceilidh and soak up all the whisky!
If you would like Hog Roast Fife to be a part of your Burns celebrations on or near the 25th then please do get in touch as soon as you can. We are more than happy to help!
