In the world of horse racing, there’s one name that stands out above the rest: Lucinda Russell OBE. For three decades, Russell has trained over a thousand winners including Grade One champions at the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals as well as saddling the first home in the Grand National twice.
But it’s not just horses Russell knows – she also knows how to throw an epic party!
Each year, owners and team members look forward to an incredible lunch at the esteemed Arlary House here in Kinross. It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get a look at the horses up close before the season starts, watch them galloping and parading in the pastures and even pick up some lessons from the training team before retreating to the gazebo for lunch.
This year wasn’t the first year that Hog Roast Kinross received an invite, and we’re thrilled to say it was another successful celebration that left everyone in high spirits. Our crew arrived on site bright and early to get started on the feast, which centred around our famous hog roast. Using a fresh, free-range pig, we crafted a delicious roast that was tender and juicy on the inside and unbelievably crispy on the outside. Sage and onion stuffing, applesauce, coleslaw, salads, a potato dish and a selection of bread rolls and wraps were served on the side, as well as a meat-free alternative of grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs with tzatziki dip and flatbreads.
Hog Roast Kinross’s chefs did a stellar job of creating a tasty and varied spread that had everyone weak at the knees. But our work was far from over! As well as the wholesome mains and refreshing sides, our waiting staff made sure each table was centred by bamboo charcuterie platters comprising prosciutto, Parma ham, salami, fine cheeses and artisan breads with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, which guests grazed on freely. The hosts had also organised an Edinburgh Gin van to serve a tipple (or two), which paired perfectly with the feast.
Once again, everyone had wonderful things to say about Hog Roast Kinross’ involvement in this event and we hope to see them all again next time around!
